How to Manage a Pneumatic Lift Truck
Extensively used in shipping facilities, the pneumatic forklift or pallet vehicle, may be used to move materials that are positioned on top of pallets. A pneumatic lift truck commonly has a set of metal blades installed on a wheeled counterweight that also has a pump. The pump is used to elevate and lower the blades.
Visually check the pallet truck prior to loading. Make sure the wheels are free of any potential obstacles. Furthermore, make sure the handle moves smoothly and turns appropriately. Check the pallet before moving it to assess if it is stacked in a manner that minimizes the possibility of anything falling off during lifting. Release any air in the pump and lower the forks to the floor by squeezing the lever mounted on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the lever. Slide the blades into the slots in the pallet and make sure the forks are centered so that the pallets’ mass is evenly spread.
By pumping the pneumatic lift lever the forks will ascend from the ground. Once there is full clearance, you can discontinue pumping as there is no need to raise the jack to any further extent. To move the pallet lift, you may pull the handle behind you. It is not recommended to push the pallet truck. There will be a huge amount of momentum present. Avoid quick or sharp turns and you should not stop too suddenly. Gently bring the pallet to a halt where you would like to park it. Squeeze the handle inside the grip end to return the blades to the ground. Withdraw the forks from the pallet and return the pallet vehicle to its specified parking spot.

Buy a lift truck hopper. This apparatus is available in two general types, either self-dumping or the traditional model. Choose a self-dumping hopper if possible since it allows the dumping to occur without tilting. Place the hopper flat on the ground, turn the forklift on, fasten the seat belt and release the parking brake. Move forward gradually whilst somewhat elevating the prongs two to three inches above the ground by applying the "up" lever. Slide the forks into the slots of the hopper until they cannot slide in any more. Fill the dump bucket up with any item or materials that is to be discarded. Utilize the "up" lever and lift the dump bucket until it is above eye level to ensure visibility. Move forward until reaching the trash dumpster and next raise the dump bucket until it clears the bin by one or two feet and progress forward until the lift truck is touching the outside of the dumpster.
Upon contact with the dumpster the self-dumping hoppers would automatically dump their loads. Dump buckets or traditional hoppers will require the use of a tilt lever to be able to angle the prongs down until they manage a forty five degree angle. After the contents dump out, put back the prongs to the flat position. Lower the prongs back to floor level previous to returning to the facility.
